Kesko's sales in February 2010

KESKO CORPORATION STOCK EXCHANGE RELEASE 12.03.2010 AT 09.00 1(2)

 

The Kesko Group's sales, excluding VAT, totalled €598.1 million in February 2010, which is down by 2.7% compared with the previous year.

 

In the food trade, sales in February were €284.2 million, an increase of 0.9%. The sales to the K-food store chains were up by 4.2%.

 

In the home and speciality goods trade, sales in February were €104.2 million, an increase of 2.3%. The best sales performance was achieved by furniture and K-citymarket's home and speciality goods.

 

In the building and home improvement trade, sales in February were €155.0 million, a decrease of 4.6%. Sales in Finland were down by 2.5%. In foreign countries, sales decreased by 6.6% in terms of euros, and by 12.0% in terms of local currencies. In the Baltic countries, sales were down by 37.3%. In Russia, sales decreased by 11.6% in terms of euros and by 20.4% in terms of the local currency.

 

In the car and machinery trade, VV-Auto's sales in February were €47.6 million, down 17.4%. The car tax levied on cars after 1 April 2009 is not included in the sales figures, and the comparable sales matched the level of the previous year. In February, Volkswagen was the passenger car with most registrations. Konekesko's sales in February were €19.4 million, down 22.0%, because of the downsizing of the Baltic agricultural trade.

Change, % indicates the change over the corresponding period of the previous year.

 

In February 2010, the number of selling days in Kesko's wholesale was 20, which is the same as in February 2009. The total number of selling days in January-February was one less than in the previous year. The number of retail selling days in February was 28, which is four more than in the previous year. The total number of retail selling days in January-February was eight more than in the previous year.
