KESKO CORPORATION PRESS RELEASE 13.09.2017 at 15.45 1 (1)
Kesko rises on the world's most prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, DJSI World and DJSI Europe
Kesko has been listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices DJSI World and DJSI Europe. Kesko's scores rose especially in the areas of environmental responsibility and social responsibility.
Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) are the most prestigious global sustainable development indices and Kesko was ever present on them between 2003 and 2014.
Companies are selected for DJSI indices based on an independent sustainability assessment. The assessment analyses company activities in areas of economic, social and environmental responsibility.
Kesko's outstanding environmental responsibility scores were influenced, among other things, by increasing its use of renewable energy, its commitment to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), K Group's plastics policy and measures taken in accordance with the Energy Efficiency Agreement.
The very good social responsibility scores were influenced by Kesko's human rights impact assessment and cooperation with organisations such as Plan International Finland and the Finnish Basketball Association.
Kesko is a world pioneer in sustainability
Kesko is listed on several major sustainability indices, such as the FTSE4Good Index, the CDP Climate A- List and the STOXX Global ESG Leaders Index. Kesko is ranked number 25 in the Global 100 list of the Most Sustainable Corporations in the World and at the same time is the world's most sustainable trading sector company (Food & Staples Retailing).
