Intersport Finland Ltd to have new management

Intersport will revise its organisation effective from 1 January 2014. The reform is aimed to achieve profitable growth in the Intersport chain in Russia and to strengthen chain management in Finland.

Jussi Mikkola, M.Sc. (Econ.), 58, has been appointed President of Intersport Finland Ltd. Mikkola joined Kesko in 1982. He acted as Intersport's Chain Director and President in 1998-2007 and has been Board member of Intersport International Corporation since 2001. Currently, he is President of Indoor Group Ltd responsible for the operations of Asko and Sotka.

Juha Nurminen, Business College Graduate, 50, has been appointed Vice President of the Intersport chain operations. Nurminen has held several different management positions in Kesko's sports trade since 1986, most recently President of Intersport Finland Ltd since 2007.

Intersport Finland's retail chains in Finland are Intersport, Budget Sport and Kesport. There are 62 Intersport stores, 10 Budget Sport stores and 30 Kesport stores in Finland.

Kesko took full ownership of the Intersport licence and operations in Russia in April 2012. There are currently 20 Intersport stores in Russia.

Intersport is part of the international sports trade chain in which Kesko is a partner. The Intersport chain is the market leader in Finnish sports trade. The chain's stores provide customers with equipment and advice for sports, keeping fit and leisure.
