Kesko’s EV charging network to add 100 new stations and more than double the number of HPC points as demand for high-power charging surges

K-Lataus, the EV charging network by Kesko’s car trade business K-Auto, will comprise over 300 charging stations across Finland by the end of this year, with nearly 1,800 charging points. K-Auto is also upping the charging capacity of 50 of its existing K-Lataus stations. Charging at K-Lataus stations more than doubled in the first half of this year compared to 2022.

Finland’s most popular app will show how well your purchases meet Finnish nutrition recommendations

A new feature designed to support wellbeing will be introduced to the K-Ruoka mobile app in August. The Hyvinvointi wellbeing service will calculate how well customers’ purchases from K-food stores meet the national nutrition recommendations. The service uses K Group's data on customer purchases combined with background information provided by customers to help users make healthier choices. The wellbeing service has been created in collaboration with registered dietician Reijo Laatikainen.

Finns eager to buy Ukraine bows, with South Karelians the most eager to participate

Support for Ukrainians arriving in Finland is well under way and is being funded by Ukraine bows sold in K grocery shops. Food gift cards with a total value of EUR 50,000 have been distributed to Ukrainian families with children and the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare works to offer them meaningful activities that bring Finns and Ukrainians together. People living in South Karelia have been the most eager to participate in the fundraising, which will continue until the end of June.

Kesko joins global climate collaboration with other sector operators to find new ways to reduce value chain emissions

EDRA/GHIN, the global trade bodies for home improvement retailers, and nine leading sector companies have launched a new collaborative climate taskforce, challenging the entire sector to join them. The goal is to find ways to harmonise emission calculations and reporting, and to reduce the Scope 3 emissions generated in the production and use of products.

Onninen provides its customers data on the carbon footprint of its logistics operations

In a response to customer requests, Kesko’s technical wholesale company Onninen has introduced a new report which details the emissions arising from Onninen’s transport and packaging of products in Finland. The report helps Onninen’s B2B customers track the carbon footprint of the products that they order.

Solar panels go mainstream in Finland: both B2B and B2C customers now shopping for solar power systems

The impact of the green transition can be seen in the figures for Kesko’s technical wholesale subsidiary Onninen: as the biggest importer of solar power systems in Finland, Onninen saw its related sales quadruple in 2022. Moreover, the sales of solar power products have yet to peak. Meanwhile, consumers shopping at our K-Rauta building and home improvement stores are also showing increased interest in solar power, thanks to the rise in energy costs and more affordable solar panel prices.

K Group’s health targets are moving forward: more than 30 Pirkka products already carry the Heart Symbol

Making heart-friendly yet affordable choices at the grocery store will be easier once the Heart Symbol is added to familiar Pirkka products. To date, almost a hundred Pirkka products have been granted the right to use the Heart Symbol, and the symbol has already been added to the packaging of more than 30 products. K Group is committed to facilitating choices that promote wellbeing by setting health targets and making nutrition commitments.
